Q:Who is welcome to attend our concert or join other programs? 

     A: All K-12 students in the DMV area and the Lexington Public School District in Boston, MA, are welcome to volunteer.

     K-5 students, we especially appreciate your presence at our concerts. Starting your volunteering journey early is a great experience, and our audience truly values your participation.

     If you're interested in music education or accompaniment services, please sign up first. Once registered, we’ll help you find the right opportunity and provide all the details for preparation.


   Q:How do I know if I registered as a volunteer successfully?

     A: We will send you a confirmation email once you've registered through the Google form

     It's important to understand that by registering, you are automatically considered a volunteer for the concert, and there is no selection process involved. 

     Additionally, a reminder email will be sent to you two days before the concert, so there's no need to worry if you happen to forget the date, time, or location.

Q:What type of performance are you looking for in your concert?

     A: We welcome all kinds of performances, including but not limited to playing instruments, singing, dancing, talk shows, comedy acts, poetry readings, and more. Whether you're performing alone, with a partner, in a trio, or as a group, we’d love to have you perform.

     For music performances, we suggest preparing American Golden Age songs or Broadway classics, as seniors tend to enjoy them. However, if you feel more comfortable with classical music or any other genre, feel free to perform what you love. Every performance is appreciated!


Q:Which school district's students are eligible for SSL hours?

     A: MusicAid is an SSL partner for MCPS in Maryland and FCPS in Virginia. We welcome all students from the DMV area to volunteer, but please note that SSL forms are only available for students in grades 6-12 from MCPS and FCPS.

     We’re also a Community Service Partner for Lexington High School in MA,  where students can start earning hours the summer before 9th grade.

     We hope to partner with more school districts in the future.

Q: How many service hours did I get? 

VIRTUAL - Students receive 1.5 service hours per performance


IN PERSON & Music Education- Students receive up to 4 service hours per performance.

     MusicAid aims to deliver exceptional concerts for seniors and recognizes the importance of extensive practice and rehearsal.  Although we cannot provide a dedicated practice space, we value your effort. SSL hours also depends on your performance's duration, and the length of each concert. 

Music Accompaniment -Students receive at least 8 service hours per performance. The number of service hours earned will vary depending on the rehearsal time, difficulty of the music and the duration of the performance.


Q: When will I receive my SSL hours? 

>>>SSL hours earned from concerts during 2024 SUMMER (6/1/2024-8/31/2024) will be awarded by 9/1/2024 via email.

>>>SSL hours earned from concerts during 2024-2025 Semester 1 (9/1/2024-12/31/2024) will be awarded by 1/3/2025 via email.

>>>SSL hours earned from concerts during 2024-2025 Semester 2 (1/1/2025-5/26/2025) will be awarded by 5/27/2025 via email.

>>>SSL hours earned from concerts during 2025 Summer (5/27/2025-8/31/2025) will be awarded by 9/1/2025 via email.

>>>For FCPS and Lexington High School Students, please submit your hours online following your school’s instructions.


Q: Do you support applying for President’s Volunteer Service Award?

     A: Yes, MusicAid is honored to be one of certifying organizations participating in the national President’s Volunteer Service Award program. To apply through us, you must meet one of the following requirements: either exceed 50% of the total required hours or exceed 50 SSL hours. For further information, please click here.

Q: What is the age requirement for applying for PVSA?

     A: The minimum age requirement is 5 years old. Therefore, even if you’re not eligible to apply for SSL hours from MCPS, FCPS, or Lexington Public School due to age restrictions, or if you’re not affiliated with those school district, you can still apply for the PVSA through our organization.

Q: What is the schedule for the in-person concerts?

     A: Our concerts are typically held on the 1st Sunday from 2pm-3pm ,the 3rd Saturday from 10:30am-11:30am, and the 4th Saturday from 11:00am-12:00pm at various locations. 

     Please note that these dates and times may change due to holidays or other circumstances.


Q: We will perform as a group, do we still need to register seperately?

     A: Yes. We don’t have a group sign-up, when you register, you can mention that you’ll be performing with friends and list their names. 

     Just make sure each person signs up on their own so we can get everyone’s information and send the SSL forms to them by email later.

Q: What specifications do you have for a virtual concert?

     A: It is currently in the planning stages, and we will update you with more information regarding the virtual concert as it progresses.
