Ethan Pei 

Co-Chief Executive Officer

Founder

Ethan Pei is a sophomore in the IB Magnet Program at Richard Montgomery High School. He has won many piano competitions, including 1st place in the MSMTA Spring Solo Festival, Doris Chase Sonata Competition (in both the Mozart and Beethoven categories), Gottlieb Competition, and WMTA Bach/Baroque Competition. As a multiple-time winner of the Gertrude Brown Concerto Competition, he has performed with the New England Youth Ensemble. Ethan has also won awards in the 2022 American Protege Competition and 2023 AVIMC, earning an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall. 

Ethan enjoys providing piano accompaniment for various instruments and is passionate about chamber music, often playing in piano trios.

At MusicAid, Ethan oversees strategic planning, setting long-term goals, and identifying growth opportunities. He works on expanding MusicAid’s reach through new markets and partnerships, and also manages the team's piano accompaniment and board meetings.

Alex Wang 

Co-Chief Executive Officer

Founder

Alex Wang, a sophomore in the Magnet Program at Montgomery Blair High School. He began playing piano at age six and has won awards at the MSMTA Spring Solo Festival, Chase Sonata Competition, Gottlieb Piano Competition, and WMTA Viola Hartman Competition. He has also performed with the New England Youth Ensemble at the Gertrude Brown Concerto Competition.

In addition to his piano achievements, Alex is an accomplished violinist. He is a three-time member of the Maryland All-State Orchestra and has been involved with the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra since fourth grade. Alex also leads a chamber ensemble trio with his friends.

At MusicAid, Alex handles daily operations, including managing the team, solving internal issues. He makes sure projects align with MusicAid’s goals, manages the budget, staff, and equipment, and oversees accompaniment and board meetings.



Vivian Chen

Head of Boston Chapter

Vivian Chen, a 7th grader at Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington, Massachusetts, is a three-time winner of the Elite International Music Competition, earning 1st and 2nd place awards between 2022 and 2024, earning the chance to perform at Carnegie Hall three consecutive years.

Vivian began playing the piano at 5. Before moving to the Boston area, she won the MMTA Piano Competition, hosted by the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, three times.

As the head of the Boston chapter of MusicAid, Vivian plays a key role in overseeing strategic planning, setting long-term goals, and identifying growth opportunities in the Greater Boston area. She is dedicated to expanding MusicAid’s impact through new markets and partnerships, while also managing board meetings.

Richard Deng

Tech Manager

Head of Virginia Chapter

Co-founder

Richard Deng, a sophomore at Mclean High School, has displayed his musical talent as a violinist in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras since his 4th-grade years. From his humble beginnings in the Future Stars ensemble, he has climbed the ranks to achieve the position of concertmaster in the Young Artists orchestra. Apart from his dedication to music, Richard also finds great joy in exploring subjects like computer science, chess, and science fiction.

As the Tech Manager, Richard manages the technical side of MusicAid events and maintains the website. He sets up audio and visual equipment, ensures everything works properly during performances, and addresses any technical issues.

Aaron Hwang

Event Manager

Head of Maryland Chapter

Co-founder

Aaron Hwang is a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High School and has played cello for 6 years. He has been a passionate member of orchestras like MCYO, YAA, and the Maryland All-County and All-State ensembles. He is also an accomplished soloist, having won recognition competitions such as the U.S Army Competition, the Metropolitan Classical Music Festival, and the Washington National Youth Competition. Aaron is also a pianist with 8 years of experience and studies music theory. He plays varsity ice hockey for RM and enjoys video games and manga in his free time.

As the Events Manager, Aaron plans special events, including concerts at various hospitals and the NIH, as well as the year-end ceremony, and fundraising concerts. He oversees all logistics, such as venue booking and participant registration, to ensure each event runs smoothly.

Melinda Jiang

Social Media Manager  

Co-founder

Melinda is an 8th grader at Cabin John Middle School. She started playing flute in 4th grade and still continues to this day. She's participated in PVYO, FSW, All-county, and is currently in MCYO. Apart from flute playing, Melinda loves to travel and eat good food! 

As the Social Media Manager, Melinda oversees MusicAid's Instagram and other social media platforms. She promotes MusicAid’s events and works to grow the organization's followers and engagement.

Sophiana Jiang 

Fundraising Manager  

Co-founder

Sophiana Jiang is a sophomore in the IB Magnet  program at Richard Montgomery High School. She has been playing cello in the school orchestra since 4th grade. In addition to her music pursuits, Sophiana is actively involved in community service. She is a student ambassador, a SGA member and a regular student tutor in school.

As the Fundraising Manager, Sophiana finds venues and helps organize our fundraising events. She reaches out to local businesses and community groups to ask for support for MusicAid’s mission. She also handles donations to schools and the community on behalf of MusicAid to give back.

Bruce Liu  

Communications Manager  

Co-founder

Bruce Liu, a sophomore in Richard Montgomery High School's IB Magnet Program, discovered his passion for music at age 7. He has earned the Elementary and Junior Distinguished Music Achievement Awards and excelled in various piano competitions. Additionally, as a clarinetist, Bruce has contributed to his school band for 5 years, serving as principal clarinetist in 7th grade.

Beyond music, Bruce's deep love for swimming led him to join the RMSC swim team. He has also taken upon the responsibility of pre-team head coach for his summer swim team which he has held for two years now. He also finds joy in assisting others through his involvement in the school's tutoring program. Looking forward, Bruce aims to make a positive impact by engaging with non-profit organizations dedicated to helping people.

As the Communications Manager, Bruce will coordinate team communication and publicity, including the monthly newsletters and other important updates. This also includes external relationships and involvement in social media.  

Charles Liu   

Logistics Manager 

Co-founder 

Charles Liu, an 8th grader at Cabin John Middle School, is a talented musician who started playing the piano at the age of 6. He has achieved great success in music competitions, including the Elementary Distinguished Music Achievement Awards. Charles also plays the violin and participates in MCYO and his school orchestra.

Beyond music, Charles is passionate about basketball and actively supports his team. He finds joy in helping others and has volunteered extensively in his community, particularly with children on the autism spectrum. Charles hopes to continue making a difference through this non-profit organization.

As the Logistics Manager, Charles is responsible for transporting and setting up equipment such as microphones and sound systems, as well as arranging tables, chairs, and banners. Charles coordinates with venues to meet space, seating, and technical requirements, ensuring stage and display needs are met.

Gloria Ouyang     

Volunteer Manager 

Gloria Ouyang, a seventh grader at Robert Frost Middle School, has been playing piano since she was five and a half. At the age of 7, she started attending various piano competitions, and has won awards in the AAMS Competition, MSMTA Spring Festival Solo Competition, MSMTA Gertrude Brown Concerto Competition, Viola Hartman Piano Competition, Gottlieb Competition, and Doris Chase Sonata Competition. She is also studying musical theory, and recently earned the MSMTA Intermediate Theory Award.

Aside from her adept musical studies, Gloria enjoys swimming and art, both which she has been participating in since a young age. She is also passionate about chamber music, and has participated in several competitions with her quintet group.

As the Volunteer Manager, Gloria will keep track of and make sure that all volunteers receive their SSL hours. She will also be in charge of presenting the President's Volunteer Service Award to participating volunteers.

Ella Pei    

Operation Manager

Ella Pei, an 8th grader at Cabin John Middle School, has excelled in piano competitions. She has won 1st place in the MSMTA Spring Solo Festival, Piano Ensemble Festival, and the Gottlieb Competition multiple times. In 2024, Ella won 1st place in the Doris Chase Sonata Competition (Mozart category). She has also been a three-time winner of the Gertrude Brown Concerto Competition, earning invitations to perform with the New England Youth Ensemble.

Besides her piano skills, Ella plays violin and participates in Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra Symphony Ensemble. Recently, Ella won 1st place in the 2024 MSMTA Solo String Festival. 

As the Operations Manager, Ella will respond to emails, share information with the relevant departments, coordinate team communication, and manage external relationships, including venues, volunteers, and unexpected issues.

Vivian Tang     

Artistic Manager 

Vivian Tang, a 7th grader at Cabin John Middle School, began playing the violin at the age of six and a half. She currently serves as the concertmaster for her school's advanced orchestra and was a member of the MCYO Young Artists ensemble. Vivian has earned first-place awards in prestigious competitions, including the 2022 Charleston Romantic Music Competition and the 2023 Great Composers Competition. She also excelled as a top performer in the WMTA Judge Recital. Vivian has a particular love for music from the Romantic Period, with a special fondness for “The Carnival of the Animals” by Saint-Saëns. 

Beyond her musical pursuits, Vivian enjoys playing soccer for her MSI Classic team, where she thrives in competitive matches against other teams in the Classic League. She is also passionate about digital art, especially drawing cats—a passion that began in preschool and has flourished ever since. 

As the Artistic Manager, Vivian will oversee all art-related activities, including developing color schemes and visual themes, and designing fliers and posters to enhance the quality of each performance and effectively promote the organization.

Alyssa Wang     

Administrative Manager

Alyssa Wang, a 7th grader in the Magnet Program at Takoma Park Middle School, is a dedicated violinist. She is a member of the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra and serves as the associate concertmaster in the Chamber Strings Ensemble, reflecting her talent and commitment. Recently, Alyssa won an award in the 2024 MSMTA Solo String Festival. 

In addition to her musical achievements, Alyssa is a competitive swimmer, skillfully balancing her dual passions for violin and swimming.

As the Administrative Manager, Alyssa will track team attendance, document team member's performance, organize records, oversee concert planning and execution, and recruit new Board Members and Executive Team members.

Mila Wang     

Digital Media Manager    

Mila Wang is a 6th grader at Cabin John Middle School who started playing the cello at age 8. She now plays with the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra, where she has been the principal cellist in the Future Stars and Chamber Strings groups. Currently, she performs with the Young Artists ensemble.

Besides her love for the cello, Mila is a passionate tennis player, competing in tournaments and winning several medals. In school, she is also involved in the math team, taking part in competitions that show her strong math skills.

As the Digital Media Manager, Mila plans, creates, and manages videos for the YouTube channel. She engages viewers to help promote MusicAid’s mission.
